Fuse resident Downside joins forces with Torc to create X/Y/Secret. A new Brussels-based record label for quality Techno music.
The ex-roommates have been pushing each other to develop their producing craft. The results of which are destined for a dimmed club with intense lights and a great sounding system. This seems to be the focus of X/Y/Secret.
“Ouverture” is the first release coming on the label, produced by Downside. It contains 2 original tracks and a remix by one of Belgium’s most exciting DJs and live performers – Phara.
The first track is called “Link Required”. It starts things off without too many introductions. We’re straight into an electric flow that gives us no choice but to follow. You can hear a faster tempo than Downside’s usual. There is a feeling of a journey, throughout the whole length of the track.
The second one is Phara’s reinterpretation. The Belgian is known for his legendary live sets, using only a “Xone 92” and a “Korg EMX” groove box. He contributes a different take on the original track. His remix delivers a prime example of the power of a well-produced, grooving, tool track. With the right amount of build-ups that allow for a quick breath before diving into the pure groove again.
“Ouverture” (the track) sounds like it’s made to tell a story. It does so without resorting to emotional chords or epic synth lines. The sound design is clever but still accessible, and the groove keeps a steady pace to lock the listener in. A solid warm-up choice.
All visuals and covers are designed by the talented PiDeNi.
The release is available on all major digital stores and streaming services. The vinyl will follow later this year.
