Real institut well-known in Brussels, Deep in House knows how to keep the level and especially to celebrate its birthday. For its 6 years, the Belgian house and techno collective organises a mini festival, the Saturday 7th of July, in a unprecedented warehouse, Key West.
Since the 22nd of June 2012, Deep in House has brought together music lovers thanks to its different events, open airs at Atomium bringing together thousands of people, its new years and its last baby, C12. This time, it marks the occasion with a massive RAVE. Two rooms, 9 Belgian and International artists, house and techno music, everything we need, everything we love.
A quality program wealthy by its eclecticism, without bringing the usual names that are producing themselves last 2 years. Which was the credo of the collective at its creation : proposing artists never seen in Belgium or in the case of the Belgian ones, those who are seen by a few.
The night of the 7th will be lined by an international panel conducted by Larry Heard aka The Deep House Creator aka MR.Fingers (room 1), US producer on the scene for almost 40 years, with smooth and melodic sounds.
The second headliner is Regis (room 2), British artist, maintaining a whole myth around his character and his uncountable pseudonyms with his degenerate and unconventional techno.
The room 1 will be composed by American House with the-previously-mentioned Larry Heard, Awesome Tapes From Africa but also with a Belgian chart with Sam soda, kong and one of the residents, Chris Ferreira. More harsh, the room 2 will welcome the Swedish Anthony Linell/ Abdulla Rashim and Acronym. With them, another deep in’ s resident will perform, Kafim.
Unusual proposals, rarely seen in Belgium. Proposing quality that we can’t deny. No no, we are not raving on the mainstream but well in the pleasantly surprising discoveries (for some of us).
When you hear this, when you quickly see the event on Facebook, you think Horta Gallery, C12 – the fresh, the beautiful – or others that we are used to during our decadent weekends of the previous weeks. But actually it is not. Because for the occasion, nothing else than a place never exploited before, not far from the city center. Two steps from the Midi Station, the Key West project is proposing a quirky modulable space, not smaller than 6000m2.
Brussels people, used to go along the canal to find some raves, will find themselves in the industrial zone of Anderlecht, former port, in a huge warehouse that could be the next place-to-be for the coming raves. From now, we will make of it the techno lair – which hurt the soul at the end of the weekend.
The 3 Deep in House programmers dare to break out of the boring, of our usual playlist and make Brussels nightlife alive again. In the 90’s, Belgium was about big parties from Thursday to Monday non stop. It is a Belgian fact that the weekend is starting on Thursday.
Deep in’ shows the desire to keep that Belgian party spirit. Lately, they are representing the renewal – passing by nostalgie – of that atmosphere which disappeared a bit the past few years from our beautiful capital.
« Brussels is the new Berlin » did we say. And that is true that the programmations, collective and other initiatives – growing everywhere – are rarely disappointing but Brussels is a little bit sleeping. At least, its public. We are proposed exclusivity. We are proposed heavy, never seen.
Once again, Deep in House is proposing something heavy, even something huge.
So wake up Brussels and see you on the 7th at Key West.
