From the Thursday 31st of March to the 2nd April in the morning, Brussels will not only vibrate with electronic music… But also with rap, hip-hop and other surprises. Last but not least, the line-up is made of 50% of Belgian artists.
Prepare yourself to walk around the mythical streets of Brussels to discover or rediscover the main venues next weekend. Behind the live performances and the Dj sets; masterclasses, talks, record fair, gear fair, radio, workshops and movies will be on the program.
So, we asked them a few questions…
InDepth : Last year, the festival was attended by thousands of people. Was the public mainly from Belgium ?
Listen! : For our first edition we had about 10% foreign people from allover Europe.
InDepth : By which criterion did you choose the places for the parties ?
Listen! : All places were selected with the local partners we work with.
InDepth : Do you think that radio is a good way nowadays to promote artists ?
Listen! : Yes, 100%
Online media, streaming, etc … is definitely the future.
InDepth : Do you plan to organize more workshops after the festival ?
Listen! No, this will be setup during our 3 days festival only.
InDepth : In order to raise awareness about the world of electronic music, you choose to link sound and image with a session of documentaries. Do you think that they can help to give more visibility and credibility to this kind of music ?
Listen! : Music never comes alone, so it’s clear that we try serve all possible platforms during our 3 days festival.
I agree 100% on visibility. Credibility is more a personal thing i think.
InDepth : A special crush for an artist who participates this year ?
Listen! : That’s hard to say, but let’s chose 808 State ‘Live’ then.
InDepth : How do you plan to organize the festival in the future?
Listen! : We will keep doing what we’re doing now. The plan is to grow in the city of Brussels together with all the venues and organizations.

Despite the critic situation caused by the terrorist attack last year, the first edition was a great success. Omar-S, Fatima Yamaha were present… And this year, we expect Lefto, Shungu, Francisco Tristiano, Vladimir Ivkovic and many more!
Even if Belgium got her place in the world of electronic music with Front242, Brussels seems to have a lack of music festivals nowadays. And because our neighbors seem to be one step ahead, the Listen festival is a forceful response to the problem. Dekmentel or Awakenings in Amsterdam, Sonar in Barcelona… For the second time, we are now happy to welcome this festival in the heart of Europe.
